The mission of the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, the oldest and largest non-profit independent music school in the state, is to provide the finest musical education and performance opportunities not only for the aspiring professional performer, but also for all individuals who desire a means of cultural enrichment and self-fulfillment.

Founded in 1899, the Conservatory offers private lessons, class instruction, performances, a nationally recognized music library, and programs that serve the entire Milwaukee community.

The Conservatory demonstrates its commitment to the community by providing scholarships and financial aid to the musically talented, to the economically disadvantaged, and to children and adults with disabilities.

The Conservatory has over 90 degreed faculty members that teach at three locations: its main branch in Milwaukee on Prospect Avenue, in Fox Point at the RiverPoint Center, and in Brookfield at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts.  In addition to individual lessons and small group instruction, the Conservatory reaches over 5,000 students each year with its Conservatory Connections programs at Milwaukee area schools, and another 1,000 clients with Music Therapy.  The Prospect Avenue location also houses the Dorothea Music Library with over 51,000 CDs, scores and books.
